Parent & Me Group Class
(6 mos – 2.5 years)
Mommies, Daddies, & Caregivers Welcome!
Join your baby or toddler in the pool for fun and relaxed group water play activities! Through guided songs and stimulating games, students will safely begin to explore the new and exciting world of water while developing foundational skills for swimming. Whether your child is an adventurous spirit or cautiously curious he/she will have the opportunity to learn, explore, and develop skills at their own pace in a flexible class and comfortable water environment. Each class is a tailored program that meets students’ physical, social, and cognitive needs. Group instruction as well as individual attention will be given while you and your child bond, learn, and build confidence in the water.
The Parent & Me Group Class may incorporate:
- How to safely enter and exit the water with your child
- Safe positions to hold your child in the water
- Various ways to empower a child towards developing safe water independence
- How toys, songs, and games can be used to develop new safe water skills
- Ways to encourage kicking, reaching, and floating
- Safe breath control and submersion techniques, only when the student (and parent) are ready
- How to read your child’s physical and social cues which can lead towards a more connected relationship (in and out of the water).
